Intensive preparations at all levels for the first Sea Plane flights!
With its determination, the government has sealed the start of Sea Plane operations in 2022, completing the new decisive moves for the industry, which will essentially serve as a symbolic starting point for the next summer season.
Against the backdrop of the first Sea Plane flights in 2022, Hellenic Seaplanes “seals” partnerships with key companies and is preparing feverishly to be fully ready at the start of the upcoming tourist season. After all, the company’s intention is a smooth yet substantial start of the flights, aiming to expand national transportation by creating new tourist products.
The airline is negotiating new agreements and meetings with companies that are directly or indirectly related to the Sea Plane and tourism sectors in general, and it is preparing feverishly with the goal of being able to carry out its first flights in Greek territory by spring 2022.
In the same direction, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Shipping are aiming for a spring 2022 start, intensifying the licensing process for water airports. Deputy Minister of Shipping Kostas Katsafados stated, “We want to give new momentum to the connection of island Greece by investing in new opportunities, innovation, and in Greek companies that dare to invest in the creation of new products for the country… We will continue to look ahead, freeing society and the country from the ailments of the past.”
It is indicative that Hellenic Seaplanes enters the aviation business in 2022 after years of effort and dozens of partnerships ready for implementation. Given the government’s support for the development of the water airport network and the commencement of Sea Plane flights, the company is preparing bold moves to be armed for the post-COVID era, which will bring a breath of change, modernization, and innovation to the transportation methods of both Greek and foreign passengers.
The first routes to Tinos & Patmos are confirmed
The booking platform for flights with the Sea Planes of Hellenic Seaplanes opens, with the first destinations in the Aegean being Tinos and Patmos. This is immediately followed by Volos, Skopelos, Alonissos, Skyros, and the water airports of Evia.
In the new booking system being developed by Hellenic Seaplanes in collaboration with the application and systems development company Certus Online, passengers, partner companies, and travel agencies will now be able to easily and quickly book a flight with a Sea Plane for a scheduled flight or charter a flight to their desired destination and period.
New Tourist Products… a combination of transport with just one click!
Meanwhile, the cooperation between Hellenic Seaplanes and IFLY is proving to be highly fruitful. The strategic cooperation memorandum signed by the two emerging companies last April is now entering a new phase. Specifically, as part of their cooperation, Hellenic Seaplanes and IFLY are now offering combined services with Sea Planes, airplanes, and helicopters, creating comprehensive tourist products and aiming to increase passenger traffic with their flying vehicles. Some of the first new products include travel to Patmos and Tinos from all over Greece, combining airports with water airports, from domestic or international flights.
In a related statement, the CEO of the partner company IFLY, Giorgos Verpis, said: “The variety of provided transportation methods aims to open new markets, increase market share in the incoming, outgoing, and domestic passenger traffic of Greece, making full use of the capabilities offered by the water airport, heliport, and airstrip networks in Greece. The interested party or the travel agent will be able to easily and quickly book a chartered flight to any destination they desire, with the ability to choose their preferred means of air transport.”.
Flights with respect for the environment & freight transport with unmanned aircraft…
Specifically, a new corporate partnership is being formed this summer with the goal of sustainability and reducing the environmental footprint of the Sea Planes and their travels. Hellenic Seaplanes is activating its collaboration with a research company focused on studying and guiding the airline on areas such as fuel consumption and carbon offsetting, so that from 2022, Sea Plane trips will be particularly environmentally friendly.
At the same time, Hellenic Seaplanes’ new partnership with PROBOTEK opens new horizons in transport, using unmanned vessels at the water airports. The collaboration will offer clients of both companies a complete service for transporting their products, which will be provided by PROBOTEK’s new generation of long-range drones, which can offer fast delivery services at competitive costs.
The two companies will work together to develop the initial commercial routes in which they will test this new endeavor starting next year.
Electric mobility and Sea Planes go hand in hand!
The company offers high-quality electric vehicles, promoting electric mobility in Greece, representing the Italian Tazzari Group.
With this commercial agreement, Hellenic Seaplanes will supply electric vehicles to all of its water airports. At the same time, Speen Bikes and Hellenic Seaplanes sign a strategic cooperation agreement with immediate effect for the rental of electric bicycles at all their water airports on the islands, beaches, and lakes.
A collaboration that will “shake up” the waters in air transport!
With the ambition of providing scheduled flights daily across Greece, wherever there is an airport and water airport, Hellenic Seaplanes is close to finalizing a partnership that will change the air transport landscape!
Specifically, the Sea Plane company is preparing a combined procedure so that travelers can travel with a single ticket using both airplanes and Sea Planes. According to the proposed partnership, the passenger will now be able to travel from Paris or London airports to Rhodes “Diagoras” airport and from there, using a Sea Plane, fly quickly and safely to the water airport in Patmos or Symi.
Regarding the “new breath” that collaborations and partnerships bring to Hellenic Seaplanes’ operational plan, the President and CEO of the company, Mr. Nicolas Charalambous, stated:
“We have worked methodically and systematically to reach the point where we announce new alliances and quality partnerships that will create new tourist products, with the first flights expected to start in the coming spring. This is a real necessity for many businesses, especially in the particularly difficult current environment, where ‘strength in unity’ is not only desirable but necessary. Our collaborations are not only an important milestone in the implementation of Sea Plane operations but also a decisive step for the maturation of this new market for Greece. Our main goal is to offer our passengers the ease and safety of travel they deserve while adding high-standard benefits to their experience. At Hellenic Seaplanes, we are laying the foundations so that the Sea Plane becomes an environmentally friendly means of transportation that will provide multiple solutions to the needs of the modern traveler.”
