The companies HellenicSeaplanes Α.Ε and Hellenic Water Airports I.K.E. are one step away from completing the licensing dossier for the Kyllini Water Airport, having finalized the site selection for the water airport and its facilities.
The two companies, with coordinated efforts and in adherence to the action timeline agreed upon with the Kyllini Municipal Port Fund in June, have completed the studies regarding the site selection for the water airport.
Specifically, a specialized team, including an aircraft operator and an aircraft engineer, conducted an on-site inspection of potential locations for the establishment of the water airport, ultimately selecting the most optimal one.
The final decision on the location of the water airport will be made by the Kyllini Port Fund, while the technical dossier for the establishment license will be evaluated by the relevant department of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
The mayor of the municipality of Andravida-Kyllini, Mr. Giannis Lentzas, stated:
“We were pleased to welcome the team from the two companies responsible for the licensing of the Kyllini water airport. The municipal authorities and the inspectors discussed various technical issues related to the smooth operation of the water airport, as well as the subsequent steps needed to introduce a new mode of transportation, seaplanes, which will, in turn, bring tourism and economic development to the wider region. There is a strong intention to accelerate the processes both from the Municipal Authorities and from the Government itself, so that we secure the water airport license for Kyllini before the new season.”
