International Recognition for Hellenic Seaplanes by the European Commission

October 19, 2019

On October 17th and 18th, a press team from the European Commission visited the offices of Hellenic Seaplanes S.A after the company was selected as a model investment project.

The purpose of the visit was to conduct a report and present Hellenic Seaplanes and its project to the European public, after it was recognized by the European Investment Projects Portal (EIPP),a European Commission entity, as the most innovative in the fields of tourism and transportation.

Previously, Hellenic Seaplanes S.A. had introduced itself to Europe and potential investors through its entry into the European Commission’s platform, announcing its project named A.I.R.SEA.NET – Advanced Integrated Regional SEAplane NETwork, which focuses on the creation of necessary infrastructures at water airports in Greece to provide the required operational support for the safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the company’s seaplanes.

The visit’s agenda centered on video and photography of the staff of Hellenic Seaplanes S.A. in the office during work moments, as well as interviews with the company’s President and CEO, Mr. Nikolaos Charalambous, key investors who will support the seaplane and water airport operations in Greece, and the architects from Pieris Architects who have carried out studies and designed the Metropolitan Water Airport of Attica.

The interview topics varied, with key discussions focusing on the company’s project for seaplane and water airport operations, its goals, ambitions, and vision, the challenges faced in the past, and the benefits gained from its exposure via the European Investment Projects Portal. The visit also included a presentation of the seaplane flight operation process, the security plan to be applied at water airports, a detailed reference to the regional network of water airports in Greece, and a tour of the planned Metropolitan Water Airport of Attica.

The journalists’ experience from their report on Hellenic Seaplanes S.A. and its project was concluded with a dinner organized by the company in their honor.

The recognition of Hellenic Seaplanes S.A. and the A.I.R.SEA.NET project by the European Commission and the European Investment Projects Portal adds to the numerous accolades the company has received thus far.
