Hellenic Seaplanes and Hellenic Seaplane Ports take over the operation of the Patras Seaplane Port!
A decisive step for the operation of the Patras Seaplane Port was made yesterday, with the signing of the contract for its concession.
The corporate structure, which has contracted with the Patras Port Authority, consists of Hellenic Seaplanes and Hellenic Seaplane Ports. With the signing of the contract, they assume the management and operation of the Patras Seaplane Port.
The concession agreement, which will have a duration of twelve years, was signed by the CEO of OLPA, Mr. Panagiotis Tsonis, and the representatives of Hellenic Seaplanes, Mr. Nikolaos Charalambous (President & CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes) and Anastasios Govas (President of Hellenic Seaplane Ports).
Present at the signing of the contract were also Mr. Irineos Pelekhras (Director of Development at Hellenic Seaplanes), Mr. Charalambos Gargaretas (Director of Strategic Planning and Seaplane Port Development), and Konstantinos Vris (Station Manager of “Patras Seaplane Port”).
In a statement, Mr. Nikolaos Charalambous, President and CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes, noted: “With the signing of the concession agreement, we have taken another step towards the arrival of seaplanes in Greece. We are now entering the final phase of launching a new form of transportation that contributes to the country’s tourism and economic development. It promotes what we call ‘Rapid Access’ to our nation’s archipelago and extensive coastline. Our country boasts seas, lakes, and all the natural features necessary to welcome the operation of seaplanes. Today, we take another decisive step forward.”
Mr. Panagiotis Tsonis, the CEO of OLPA, stated:
“Today, we took another significant step in making the city and port of Patras a central hub for the first basic network of seaplane ports in Western Greece, thus contributing to the tourist and broader economic development of the wider region. We believed in it and now it’s becoming a reality.
