Today, Hellenic Seaplanes marked another milestone in the development of water airports in Greece with an impressive seaplane landing in Ermionida, specifically at the port of Ermioni. This event represents another step forward in expanding the country’s water airport network and sends a clear message: seaplanes can operate safely and reliably even under the most demanding conditions. The crew and aircraft of Hellenic Seaplanes demonstrated the capabilities of seaplanes by executing the flight with absolute success.
The Mayor of Ermionida, Mr. Ioannis Georgopoulos, stated:
“Today’s landing in Ermionida is a significant moment for our Municipality. The presence of seaplanes opens new horizons for tourism, local development, and the connectivity of our region with the rest of Greece. This is not just a transportation project; it is a step that will strengthen the local economy, create new jobs, and offer greater accessibility for visitors. Ermionida boasts natural beauty, cultural heritage, and tourism potential — and now it also has a modern means to showcase them.”
In the same spirit, the Special Advisor of the Region of Peloponnese, Mr. Anastasios Ganossis, noted:
“The Region of Peloponnese supports every effort that upgrades transportation and enhances the accessibility of our areas. Seaplanes are not merely an innovative means of transport; they are the bridge connecting the mainland with the islands, facilitating tourism development, and serving as a critical tool even in emergency situations or the need for rapid transport. Today’s flight proves that technology and innovation can offer practical solutions even when weather conditions push the limits. Seaplanes represent a modern and safe means that will add value to the Peloponnese.”
On his part, the President and CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes, Mr. Nicolas Charalambous, said:
“Today, we proved that seaplanes can operate successfully even in challenging weather conditions, with safety and reliability. The fact that we landed in Ermionida despite strong winds is the best proof that this means of transport can meet the country’s needs. Ermionida is now dynamically entering the map of water airports and marine air transport. Our goal is to connect Greece’s marine and coastal regions, to offer citizens and visitors alternative mobility options, and to actively contribute to the development of tourism and the local economy. Today, we send the message that the future of transportation in Greece can be fast, flexible, and above all, safe.”
Looking ahead, Hellenic Seaplanes continues its mission: to connect the sea and coastal areas of Greece, support the local economy, and offer a new, reliable mode of transport that brings people and destinations closer together.
