The first roar of a sea plane propeller was once again heard over the Pagasetic Gulf! Hellenic Seaplanes made a spectacular water landing at the port of Volos, marking the beginning of a new chapter in maritime air travel.
The company’s sea plane approached the main pier with grace and precision, to the amazement of the crowd gathered to witness up close the winged vehicle that is set to connect Volos with the Sporades, Skyros, and other destinations.
Among those present were Ms. Zetta Makri, Member of Parliament for Magnesia, and Ms. Melpomeni Lazarou, Deputy Mayor of Tourism, who both welcomed the initiative that promises to transform the way we travel across the Aegean.
The sea plane then took off and offered two breathtaking flights over the city and the gulf. Passengers described the experience as a thrilling combination of adrenaline and stunning views – an aerial journey above the blue waters and the lush green peaks of Mount Pelion.
“Volos is now entering the map of maritime air travel with force. The city’s response fills us with energy for the next step,” said Nicolas Charalambous, President and CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes.
As part of Hellenic Seaplanes’ first flight in Volos, the CEO of the Volos Port Authority, Mr. Sokratis Anagnostou, remarked:
“The time has come to welcome the first sea planes to our city. This is a project that comes to life after many years of effort. It is highly significant that a vast network has been established to serve citizens more quickly and efficiently – and Volos is playing a key role in this initiative, strengthening both tourism and transport connectivity with islands and other destinations.”
Ms. Zetta Makri added:
“Sea planes are a tremendous opportunity for our islands, our region, for growth, for tourism, and for residents. Sincere thanks to Mr. Charalambous, who overcame obstacles with determination and patience, and offers us this ‘gift’ in every sense of the word. Wishing safe travels to the sea plane and many contributions to our area.”
Looking to the future, Hellenic Seaplanes continues its flights across Greece, bringing sea planes ever closer to becoming part of our everyday life.
The adventure has only just begun – and it begins… here in Volos!
