Kyllini is dynamically entering the seaplane network following the first water landing of an amphibious aircraft operated by Hellenic Seaplanes at the port of Ilia, opening new prospects for fast connectivity between Western Greece and the islands of Zakynthos, Kefalonia, and the rest of the Ionian Islands.
The flight was carried out as part of the company’s operational familiarization with the port infrastructure of the area, confirming in practice that the port of Kyllini can serve as an important point in the developing seaplane network planned for the country.
The Cessna Caravan seaplane carried out a flight over the Corinthian Gulf and Achaia before landing at the port of Kyllini, highlighting the potential for fast air travel between Western Greece, the Peloponnese, and the Ionian Islands.
On board the flight were the Members of Parliament for Ilia, Mr. Andreas Nikolopoulos and Ms. Dionysia–Theodora Avgerinopoulou, who had the opportunity to experience firsthand the capabilities of this new mode of transport and the prospects it creates for the region.
The flight was made possible through the collaboration of Hellenic Seaplanes with the Municipality of Andravida–Kyllini, Mayor Mr. Ioannis Lentzas, and the Kyllini Municipal Port Authority, chaired by Mr. Konstantinos Chantzis, aiming to utilize the port as a reception and operational hub for seaplanes.
