Hellenic Seaplanes, Greece’s seaplane company, and Elfly Group, a pioneer in the development of electric seaplanes, announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), laying the foundations for a unique, innovative initiative that will place Greece at the forefront of sustainable air transportation.
Under the agreement, Hellenic Seaplanes has made a preliminary commitment to acquire 10 electric seaplanes, Noemi, 9-seater, which will be delivered gradually starting in 2028. These new aircraft, equipped with cutting-edge electric engines, represent the spearhead for sustainability in air transportation, drastically reducing emissions and environmental impact.
At the same time, Hellenic Seaplanes will continue to operate with its Cessna Grand Caravans (12-seater) and Twin Otters (19-seater), which are already part of its fleet, ensuring the provision of high-level services for domestic and Mediterranean connections.
A Unique Initiative for Seaplanes in Greece
Hellenic Seaplanes is leading a unique effort to develop an extensive network of seaplane airports and seaplanes in Greece, making our country a pioneer in sustainable transportation in the Mediterranean. This strategy is supported by the Greek government, which is promoting the necessary regulatory and licensing frameworks for the smooth development of the sector.
Main Goals of the Cooperation:
• Integration of Electric Seaplanes: The gradual incorporation of electric seaplanes into Hellenic Seaplanes’ fleet.
• Enhancement of Operational Capabilities: Collaboration for the development of technology, training, and maintenance of the new aircraft.
• Joint Promotion: Designing communication activities to highlight the technology and environmental benefits of the cooperation.
