The company undertakes the operation and management of the water airport, setting sail for its activation!<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The die has been cast for the <\/span>Kalamata water airport<\/b> as the project that will bring seaplanes to the capital of Messinia is now in the hands of Hellenic Seaplanes! The decision was made following the conclusion of the tender process conducted by<\/span> the Kalamata Municipal Port Fund,<\/b> selecting the company as the contractor for the issuance of <\/span>the operating license, management, and the construction of the water airport.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

These developments bring the Kalamata water airport back into the spotlight, while they are considered ideal for Hellenic Seaplanes, which, prior to undertaking the construction of the project’s facilities, had already successfully completed the issuance of its <\/span>establishment license<\/b>, with the decision announced last March.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The implementation of the Kalamata water airport is the result of the<\/span> joint persistence and vision of both the municipal and port authorities of the city.<\/b> The effort to create the water airport started during the mayoralty of<\/span> Mr. Nikas, the current Governor of the Peloponnese, <\/b>and was continued by the current mayor, <\/span>Mr. Vassilopoulos,<\/b> along with the entire administration and staff of<\/span> the Kalamata Municipal Port Fund and Mr. Antonopoulos (President of the D.L.T.),<\/b> who believed in the vision and potential of seaplanes and the prospects the water airport will bring to<\/span> southern Peloponnese.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

With the finalization of the agreement for the undertaking of the water airport, Hellenic Seaplanes will immediately begin processing<\/span> the technical file<\/b> for the issuance of its operating license while simultaneously proceeding with the construction of both<\/span> the land-based and water-based facilities at the port.<\/b> The firm goal is for the water airport to soon be fully operational and integrated into the <\/span>Hellenic Seaplanes network of water airports, as well as in Peloponnese.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Following the designation of Hellenic Seaplanes as the operator of the Kalamata water airport, both the company and the municipal and port authorities made statements.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Mayor of Kalamata, Mr. Thanasis Vassilopoulos,<\/b> commented on the outcome of the tender and the water airport:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“Another decisive step is being taken so that, after the establishment of the water airport, we can proceed resolutely with its construction at our city\u2019s port. Kalamata is getting ready to welcome the infrastructure of the water airport and become part of the innovative destinations in Greece that will host seaplanes in their seas, giving tourists an extra incentive to visit, as well as offering local passengers quick flights to lakes, ports, and islands! We will stand by Hellenic Seaplanes, and together with the Port Fund, we will make the long-standing ambition of having our own water airport a reality.”<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Michalis Antonopoulos, President of the Kalamata Municipal Port Fund,<\/b> stated:<\/span>
\n<\/span>“The construction of the water airport will be a key pillar for Kalamata’s development while also optimizing its port. With the arrival of seaplanes at the water airport, passenger and cargo flights will be operated to\/from other neighboring areas and Ionian islands. The Kalamata Port Fund is ready to collaborate once again with Hellenic Seaplanes after the issuance of the establishment license for the water airport, so that the project is implemented as soon as possible.”<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

“Kalamata Plays a Key Role for Hellenic Seaplanes!”<\/b>
\n<\/span>Regarding the tender and the final takeover of the water airport,<\/span> the President of Hellenic Seaplanes, Mr. Nicolas Charalambous,<\/b> stated:<\/span>
\n<\/span>“The conclusion of the tender for the Kalamata water airport brought an extremely significant piece of news to Hellenic Seaplanes, as the undertaking of the operation and construction of Kalamata\u2019s facilities plays a key role in the company\u2019s network of water airports and in the entire Peloponnese! We have the experience and knowledge to leverage the advantages that make Kalamata stand out on the tourism map, and with the creation of the water airport, we will bring seaplanes and their transport capacity to Kalamata\u2019s waters.”<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Peloponnese Ports Strengthened with Water Airports!<\/b>
\n<\/span>In addition to Kalamata, more and more destinations are being added to the list of those that will acquire water airports in Peloponnese. This decision was made during a recent meeting between the Governor, Panagiotis Nikas, and Hellenic Seaplanes executives, where areas such as <\/span>Kyparissia, Kiato, Paralion Astros, Monemvasia, and Gythio were discussed for inclusion in the Peloponnese water airport and water field cluster, which already includes Patras. In the process of joining are Kyllini, Lake Taka in Arcadia, as well as Nafplio, Ermionida, and Loutraki.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
