The contractor is the subsidiary company Kyllini Water Airport IKE, following the tender process of the Kyllini Port Fund for the construction and operation of the water airport.<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Peloponnese is once again becoming a key focus in terms of water airports and infrastructure that can serve <\/span>seaplane flights!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Hellenic Seaplanes, after taking over the <\/span>Kalamata water airport<\/b>,<\/span> returns to the Peloponne<\/span>se<\/b>, to the region of Ilia, specifically to Kyllini!<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

Having<\/span> received the approval to establish the local water airport,<\/b> the company was selected as the contractor for the construction and operation of the water airport following the tender process initiated by the<\/span> Kyllini Port Fund.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

The ultimate goal is for Kyllini to become a reference point for the region, with the construction and operation of the water airport, alongside the Kalamata and Patras water airports, which are progressing in terms of readiness, to form a development pillar in <\/span>Western Greece.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

“Kyllini shows the way to development throughout the region!”<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Kyllini water airport is now in the final phase, as the appropriate entity to construct the facilities and water infrastructure, as well as manage its proper operation, has been selected. Kyllini is the first area in Ilia to have a water airport, and this is a landmark for the entire region. As the<\/span> Mayor of Andravida-Kyllini, Mr. Giannis Lentzas,<\/b> stated:<\/span> \u201cWith the completion of the relevant tender, a major development project, the Kyllini water airport, enters its final phase, that of implementation and construction. The water airport is the means by which seaplanes will come to our area, serving both locals and tourists, enabling them to travel smartly and alternatively to the Ionian Islands and surrounding areas.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, as infrastructure, it is of pivotal importance for the Ilia region and Kyllini in particular, as the creation of water airports aims to <\/span><\/i>support the local community <\/i><\/b>and act as a pillar of its development. The operation of the local water airport will result in the creation of<\/span><\/i> new job positions<\/i><\/b> in various specialties, and it brings new commercial <\/span><\/i>collaborations with local businesses <\/i><\/b>in the tourism sector and beyond.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

With the water airport, we hope to take a step forward, inspiring other regions and municipalities to support the development of seaplane transportation! We have the experience and knowledge to utilize the advantages that will make Kyllini stand out on the tourist map, and with the creation of the water airport, we will bring seaplanes and their transport capabilities to Kyllini\u2019s waters.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Mr.<\/span> Ioannis Varvaressos, President of the Kyllini Port Fund, <\/b>stated: <\/span>\u201cThe completion of the tender for the Kyllini water airport is very important news for our port, as the operation and construction of Kyllini’s facilities plays a key role in the network of water airports in Ilia and all of Peloponnese! The Kyllini Municipal Port Fund is ready to collaborate with the Kyllini Water Airport IKE company to ensure the project is implemented as promptly as possible.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Regarding the tender and the final takeover of the Kyllini water airport, <\/span>the President and CEO of Hellenic Seaplanes, Mr. Nicolas Charalambous,<\/b> commented:<\/span> \u201cThe establishment and operation of a network of water airports in Greece presents an innovative investment opportunity with significant developmental prospects at the local level and for the country as a whole. These prospects are based on strengthening the country’s tourism product, through the introduction of a new flexible mode of transport, both for increasing flight frequencies to popular tourist destinations and for promoting new ones.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

The construction of the water airport will be a key development pillar for Kyllini, while also optimizing its port, as with the arrival of seaplanes at the water airport, passenger and cargo flights will be carried out to\/from other neighboring areas and islands in the Ionian.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond facilitating and expanding the visitation of tourist areas, seaplanes also meet urgent and emergency transportation needs, such as air evacuations of patients, search and rescue operations, and cargo transport (medications, food, press, etc.).<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore, water airport facilities for seaplanes are small-scale and require limited infrastructure, making the development of water airports a flexible solution in terms of cost and technical works.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, the establishment of water airports represents a developmental prospect that can bring significant benefits to local and other communities, creating new tourism trends while simultaneously addressing social needs.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

The <\/span>MP for Ilia from the New Democracy Party, Mr. Andreas Nikolopoulos,<\/b> who visited the water airport site, announced:<\/span> \u201cThe Kyllini water airport is a comparative advantage for our region for tourism, social, and overall developmental reasons. It is the fastest and most comfortable means of transportation compared to other transport modes, promoting the tourism market in the wider port areas and regions that were not previously easily or quickly accessible or popular tourist destinations.<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

New job positions will be created, both in the air transportation sector itself and in industries dependent on it, thus highlighting and developing the local economy.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

New Programmatic Agreements for the Water Airport Network in the Ionian!<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

It is worth noting that in recent days,<\/span> the Ionian Islands Region<\/b> proceeded with programmatic agreements for the development of the<\/span> water airport network<\/b> in the <\/span>Ionian Islands.<\/b> Specifically, the agreement between the Region and the <\/span>Municipal Port Fund of Kefalonia-Ithaca<\/b> was approved, aiming to prepare and submit files for the issuance of licenses and the construction of water airports in Kefalonia and Ithaca.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
